Talk about MAGIC! Erin was a bridal dream-come-true. Erin asked me to shoot her wedding, but I had already booked her date with another couple. Thankfully, she still wanted bridal portraits and engagement photos with me! We went out to TVA and made these happen. She married the love of her life, Prathmesh, on July 13th at Joe Wheeler State Park.
Mason and Sarah are high school sweethearts. They have already been together for 9 years. They love being outdoors. You can find them kayaking or hiking in their free time, but they also never turn down a solid afternoon nap. They just moved to Lexington, KY this past fall, so that Sarah could start dental school at the University of Kentucky and Mason just started his career as a Physical Therapist Assistant. They hope to be future golden retriever parents. They want to travel more, kicking off their honeymoon in Greece. They wed NEXT SATURDAY!
We had a really rainy day for their engagement session, but we caught a break in the rain for their session. We went to Wildwood Park and played in the creek for a bit, then we went downtown to grab some coffee. See my third-wheeling adventure below.
Kensley met Luke at Auburn University. She had planned a huge party for a friend of hers and Luke showed up. They hit it off immediately. Luke’s first impression of Kensley was “HOT DAMN!” Kensley’s first impression of Luke was “He’s cute, but he’s cocky. He is really cute though.”
After that party in Auburn, Luke invited Kensley and some of her friends to Nashville, where Luke had moved after graduation. In the following weeks, they would text and talk for hours over the phone. Kensley had such a good gut feeling about Luke that she even left a beach trip early to go spend time with him one weekend. They have been together ever since.
They have made long distance work between Birmingham, AL and Nashville, TN. They frequent rooftop bars and concerts, and they travel often. They love experiencing new things and new places together.
Luke originally rented a rooftop and planned to propose in October. He got Kensley’s sister and two of her best friends in on it. He couldn’t wait it out though. While Kensley and Luke were on a camping trip at one of Kensley’s childhood campgrounds, weekends before his planned proposal, he popped the question. He told her that he wanted to get better at photography, and he set up his camera to take a photo of them in front of a waterfall. Little did she know, he had set the camera to record a video of his proposal. She was completely surprised and had no idea a proposal was in the near future. They got dressed up and met some friends on top of the Redmont Hotel for celebratory drinks and photos.
They plan to kick off their happily ever after on September 21st, 2019 with a carefree, fun celebration.
Allie and Langleigh have been head over heels since they met, and they've spent so much of their time falling in love at the skate park. Langleigh taught Allie how to skate. I had the idea to shoot an engagement session at a skate park, and I knew Allie and Langleigh were the perfect couple. I click with these two and their story so well, so I knew I had to shoot with them at the place they fell in love. They aren't engaged, but they eagerly volunteered to pretend to be when I threw the idea at them. I wanted to do something fun and out-of-the-ordinary that really inspired and challenged me. We were #blessed with a windy, moody day and some killer getup (because Langleigh and Allie are literally the best dressed people I know).
Anna + Daniel
Engagement // 12.18.2017
Anna and Daniel had called me early the morning of the 18th. They were in town and they wanted to know if I was available for a last minute engagement shoot. We had talked briefly the weekend before, and I was ecstatic to shoot for them! I grabbed my camera and met them two hours later. These two love the outdoors, so our location was perfect. As we shot, they told me stories about one another. Fun fact: Anna carried her engagement ring around in an unopened package for MONTHS! Dan is from Ohio, and Anna is from Alabama. They decided to meet halfway for their wedding in the hills of Kentucky. I am SO EXCITED for their venue, her dress, and (most of all) their love. I can't wait for November 17th, y'all.
Molly is such a gem. We ventured down to the mossy bridge hidden in the woods in Sheffield. I turned on my Head and the Heart/Decemberist daily mix on Spotify and we got to shooting. Molly was so naturally comfortable in front of the camera. The cross necklace she is wearing is passed on from her grandmother. Her grandmother wore the necklace in her senior portraits. It's so cool to think that a photographer so long ago captured her grandmother in the same necklace. On my way to our session, I came across a beautiful curvy road. I'm super thankful that Molly was willing to venture there too.
