Devyn and Brad's Fall Adventure Session in Florence, AL

Devyn and Brad are two precious souls. They met on a dating app, because it’s the 21st century and that’s how we do things. They first set sights on each other under the Shoals Theatre sign in downtown Florence, and had an instant connection. They’ve been together ever since.

Brad enlisted the help of some dear friends to propose. Their friends Kaitlyn and Jake Curtis were having a Christmas party, and Brad had the BEST plan. Brad disappeared mid-party and Kaitlyn pretended to go look for him. Everyone followed her outside, and Devyn went along naturally. Devyn got outside and there was Brad, standing there waiting for her. Brad went into his speech about his adoration and appreciation for Devyn, then he got down on one knee and popped the question. After saying yes, Devyn realized her mom had driven up from Birmingham and was Face-timing her family back home the whole time for them to watch.

Brad and Devyn wed in one month, and I couldn’t be more excited to see what they have put together for their day. I know it’s going to be a thoughtful, emotional, beautiful day. Here’s a peek at their engagement session last year! Congratulations on finding each other, Brad and Devyn. Thank you for letting me document your love story.

Sarah and Mason's Wildwood Park and Downtown Florence, AL Engagement Session

Mason and Sarah are high school sweethearts. They have already been together for 9 years. They love being outdoors. You can find them kayaking or hiking in their free time, but they also never turn down a solid afternoon nap. They just moved to Lexington, KY this past fall, so that Sarah could start dental school at the University of Kentucky and Mason just started his career as a Physical Therapist Assistant. They hope to be future golden retriever parents. They want to travel more, kicking off their honeymoon in Greece. They wed NEXT SATURDAY!

We had a really rainy day for their engagement session, but we caught a break in the rain for their session. We went to Wildwood Park and played in the creek for a bit, then we went downtown to grab some coffee. See my third-wheeling adventure below.

Susan and Justin's Botanical Greenhouse Engagement Session at Shoppe in Birmingham

Susan and Justin met last Spring. They have been madly in love ever since. They love traveling together and going to concerts. Their last endeavor was in Switzerland, where they got engaged on a freakin’ mountaintop. You can catch Susan on her podcast, #BookSquadGoals.

We brought out our inner plant lady and hit the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Shoppe, a quaint, plant shop in Birmingham, Alabama. Y’ALL this is he cutest place and Susan and Justin are the cutest couple. I had a field day. Evidence below:

Payton + Nelson's Cocoa Beach Couple's Session with Vintage Orlando Vibes

The Rose Reflective-Payton+Nelson-9040 edit.jpg

I recently visited my grandmother (aka my Mimi) in Cocoa Beach, Florida. I planned to shoot in Florida, but I needed a couple in love. My friend Payton lived in Orlando, so I called her to see if she wanted to catch up and adventure through my uncle’s land and Cocoa Beach.

I have had the pleasure of growing up with Payton. I’ve considered her a friend since we got caught passing notes in Mrs’ Taylor’s sixth grade class. Payton moved to Orlando a couple years back to work at Universal Studios as a character actress. It was there she met Nelson. They have been madly in love ever since. These two are so fun together.

Kensley + Luke

Their Start

Kensley met Luke at Auburn University. She had planned a huge party for a friend of hers and Luke showed up. They hit it off immediately. Luke’s first impression of Kensley was “HOT DAMN!” Kensley’s first impression of Luke was “He’s cute, but he’s cocky. He is really cute though.”

After that party in Auburn, Luke invited Kensley and some of her friends to Nashville, where Luke had moved after graduation. In the following weeks, they would text and talk for hours over the phone. Kensley had such a good gut feeling about Luke that she even left a beach trip early to go spend time with him one weekend. They have been together ever since.

They have made long distance work between Birmingham, AL and Nashville, TN. They frequent rooftop bars and concerts, and they travel often. They love experiencing new things and new places together.

The Proposal

Luke originally rented a rooftop and planned to propose in October. He got Kensley’s sister and two of her best friends in on it. He couldn’t wait it out though. While Kensley and Luke were on a camping trip at one of Kensley’s childhood campgrounds, weekends before his planned proposal, he popped the question. He told her that he wanted to get better at photography, and he set up his camera to take a photo of them in front of a waterfall. Little did she know, he had set the camera to record a video of his proposal. She was completely surprised and had no idea a proposal was in the near future. They got dressed up and met some friends on top of the Redmont Hotel for celebratory drinks and photos.

They plan to kick off their happily ever after on September 21st, 2019 with a carefree, fun celebration.

Allie + Langleigh

Allie and Langleigh have been head over heels since they met, and they've spent so much of their time falling in love at the skate park. Langleigh taught Allie how to skate. I had the idea to shoot an engagement session at a skate park, and I knew Allie and Langleigh were the perfect couple. I click with these two and their story so well, so I knew I had to shoot with them at the place they fell in love. They aren't engaged, but they eagerly volunteered to pretend to be when I threw the idea at them. I wanted to do something fun and out-of-the-ordinary that really inspired and challenged me. We were #blessed with a windy, moody day and some killer getup (because Langleigh and Allie are literally the best dressed people I know).

Sara + Jonathan

engagement session // 3.28.2018

Sara and Jonathan were such a good time! They have known each other for 8 years. The two ended up going to Bonaroo, where they became best friends. After two years of being best friends, they became a couple. The rest is history.

Music and concerts are a huge part of their love. Jonathan introduced Sara to one of their favorite artists, Jason Isbell. January 18th, the two attended Jason Isbell's concert at the Alabama Theatre. It was there that Jonathon dropped to one knee to propose. Sara said yes, then they were congratulated by Jason, and he even gave them the setlist!

On the day of their shoot, we carpooled to Troy, AL to this beautiful, secluded house on a hill. There we stumbled upon the most beautiful red dirt pit. I know that sounds crazy. The home-owners were renovating their backyard though, and it couldn't have come at a better time. The dirt photographed just like the desert. We got to pretend to be in Arizona for an hour, then we ventured down by a creek on the property. I love the skinny, South Alabama trees and the Southern vibes. I can't wait for these two lovebirds to tie the knot!

Engagement // 12.18.2017

Anna and Daniel had called me early the morning of the  18th.  They were in town and they wanted to know if I was available for a last minute engagement shoot.  We had talked briefly the weekend before, and I was ecstatic to shoot for them!  I grabbed my camera and met them two hours later.  These two love the outdoors, so  our location was perfect. As we shot, they told me stories about one another. Fun fact: Anna carried her engagement ring around in an unopened package for MONTHS!  Dan is from Ohio, and Anna is from Alabama. They decided to meet halfway for their wedding  in the hills of Kentucky.  I am SO EXCITED for their venue, her dress, and (most of all) their love. I can't wait for November 17th, y'all.

Engagement Session

Where do I even begin with this couple!? These two are a photographer's dream. They're beautiful, stylish, and laid back (not to mention their cute pup). There was rain in the forecast, but we decided to venture out to McGee Farm anyways. We had clear skies for a while, but thank goodness that didn't last. The bottom fell out, and thus became my favorite shoot ever. We threw her leather jacket and my camera gear in the abandoned pickup truck, and rolled with the rain.
